If you’ve ever fancied sailing to Amsterdam from the UK, now you can for even less thanks to a limited-time deal from Wowcher. Between now and March 21, 2024, customers can snap up a two-night mini-cruise to the Dutch city for less than £100, marking a discount of more than 50 percent off the usual price.
The mini-cruise, operated by DFDS Seaways, departs from Newcastle where guests will be greeted onboard with a glass of fizz. Unlike travelling by plane, the ferry option allows you unlimited luggage.
Guests will check in to a comfortable two-berth cabin onboard and can enjoy a range of facilities and entertainment, including duty-free shopping, four bars, an a la carte restaurant, an all-you-can-eat buffet and a café.
There are also often live performances during the sea crossing, as well as a cinema for the whole family to enjoy. Six films are shown on the two screens each evening, which can be found on Deck 8 on Princess Seaways and Deck 9 on King Seaways.
Guests have the option to upgrade their package to include breakfast while onboard for £109, which represents a 43 percent saving on the usual price.
Once you arrive in Amsterdam, a coach transfer between the ferry and the city centre is included as part of your ticket price.
However, according to the Wowcher website, the deal is “in high demand”, and with only a month left to enjoy the offer, you may want to snap it up fast.
With a whole day in Amsterdam to explore, there is plenty to get up to. If you haven’t had enough time on the water, one of the most popular things to do in the city is enjoy an Amsterdam Canal Cruise, which often comes with a live guide explaining the story behind these historic waterways. You can learn even more about the canals with a visit to the Museum of the Canals (Grachtenmuseum Amsterdam). The museum looks at the 17th-century city expansion projects that led to Amsterdam’s ring of canals which received UNESCO world heritage status in 2010.
The city is also bursting with museums and galleries to enjoy. There’s the famed Van Gough Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of the artist’s work. Or, you can pay a visit to arguably the city’s most renowned museum, Rijksmuseum which sits in the huge Museum Square. Rijksmuseum is large enough to spend a whole day exploring and even has a Michelin-starred restaurant on-site.
